A signal generator is a device which produces simple repetitive waveforms. Such devices contain an electronic oscillator, a circuit that is capable of creating a repetitive waveform. Signal generators > 6GHz are generally used to test the performance of microwave communications receivers, radar receivers, satellite receivers, telemetry receivers, and general signal detection devices. Signal generators can generally apply a wide range of modulation methods such as pulse, phase, amplitude, sub-carrier and multi-tone implementations.
